Pediatric epileptologist Babitha Haridas discusses the results of a retrospective single-center case series of nine children with Rett syndrome and epilepsy who were treated with the classic ketogenic diet. The case series, published in the Journal of Child Neurology, found that the ketogenic diet is a safe and effective form of anti-seizure therapy in children with Rett syndrome: 67% of the patients had a greater than or equal to 50% reduction in seizures.
