How to Read Sports Betting Odds: American, Fractional, and Decimal Odds

In this video, my brother Mark aka MFA goes over the concept of betting odds in sports and how to read and understand them. There are several different betting odds formats, which is the reason why some people may find them confusing. In this video the most common formats are discussed: American Odds, Fractional, and Decimal Odds. An example of American Odds is the Cleveland Cavaliers are +360 to win the 2016-2017 NBA Championship. This means that if you were to bet $100, you would win $360. An example of Fractional Odds is the Golden State Warriors are 4/5 to win the 2016-2017 NBA Championship. This means if you were to bet $500 then you would $400. An example of Decimal Odds is the Toronto Raptors are 36.00 to win the 2016-2017 NBA Championship. This means if you were to bet $1 you would win a total of $36, which includes your $1 bet. This system is different from the American and Fractional Odds systems in that the number written down is the total amount you win while the other systems list the total profit. Different people prefer different systems based on what they find easier to read and understand, so many websites usually list several types of systems. Make sure to watch this video to learn in more detail how to read sports betting!
