UK: Macron's 'brain dead' NATO comment is 'nasty' and 'disrespectful' - Trump

Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe US President Donald Trump called the recent brain dead NATO remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron “nasty” and “disrespectful,” while speaking alongside NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in London on Tuesday. “When France makes a statement like they made about NATO, that's a very dangerous step for them to make,” Trump said, adding “nobody needs NATO more than France.” Trump also criticised fellow NATO members and complained that too few nations are on track to meet the alliance goal of spending at least two percent of their GDP on defence by 2024. Trump pointed out the US is paying from 4 to 4.3 percent of its GDP, while many NATO members in Europe are paying less than two percent, calling it “very unfair.” Stoltenberg said that despite differences, the NATO members “have always been able to protect and defend each other, because we are stronger and safer together.” The NATO Leaders' Summit, which marks the 70th anniversary since the formation of the North Atlantic Alliance, will take place on December 3-4.
