This might not sound true to you but yes, it is what it is. It is so, for pretty valid reasons. Here is a review trying to cover the story of the success of the show.

The positives.
Talking about the good, the show offers more good than the bad.
The story - The biggest perplexion of the show, how is a football-based cartoon show running for so long? Where does it get the grip from? The answer to all the question lies here. The story of the show is not an infinite loop of football matches, it is about the true problems the team faces before, during and after a match. One can never predict what the next episode can have to offer. The uncertainty of events is what has kept the viewers on their seats for so long, just like amazing casino bonus offers. The music - The background music is one of the positive aspects of the show. It is not anywhere near to a stereotypical animated cartoon would be. The music is neatly in place which helps set the mood. The suspense, the anger, the win, and the motivation, all have been depicted aptly with the musical sense.
Character building - The show mainly focuses and revolves around the protagonist, Shakes. The realism of this character is what has made the viewers stick to the show. Unlike other animated shows, Shakes is not an over-the-top skilled and depicted character. He is rather a person who has his own strengths and weaknesses, just like any other player. He is determined and self-confident of what he wants to be for his team. He is not the ideal footballer, he is shown disobedient at times and has been rough on his teammates. Despite his flaws, he is shown with the never giving up attitude.
Other than the main character, the show also has scripted other full-fledged characters and has dedicated full episodes to them, which is not something all shows agree to focus on. Most shows don’t feel the need of character development other than the main character. The sheer attention given to each character makes you watch all episodes and wait for the next one.
The negatives.
Although, the show has proven its success by being on-air for almost 10-years now. No show always has positives and Supa Strikas is not an exception.
Homely animation - The animation in the season it began used to be unsynchronized. The technical aspects were poor, to be honest. With choppy movements to bad lip-syncing, it used to be annoying to be stuck with it, even after the engaging start it had. Later, the lip-syncing issue was resolved but the choppy feel of the animation done by the very basic Adobe Flash is in no comparison to what animation tools of current times can produce. With time, the animation should also have been improved to keep up with its massive following and production.
Cultural stereotyping - A show which involves diverse cultures should also be globally acceptable. Showcasing the reality of the cultures rather than just showing us what we have an image of. It is not breaking the grounds rather it will restrict you with the same old perception. Japan’s representing team is as Japanese as it could be.
All in all, Supa Strikers has been loyal to its watchers with its story and characters. With time it has proved that it, not just another football-based cartoon show.
