EzriCare eye drops were recalled after the CDC said at least 50 patients have reported infections in a dozen states, including one death.

An artificial tears product investigated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been recalled due to possible contamination, multiple infections and at least one death.
Global Pharma Healthcare manufactures EzriCare Artificial Tears, which has been linked to a germ called pseudomonas aeruginosa.
The company said Thursday that all lots are being recalled.
At least 55 patients have been impacted, suffering from eye infections, blindness and one death with a bloodstream infection, the company said this week.
Cases have been reported in at least 12 states including California, New Jersey and Florida. Patients have suffered from permanent vision loss and at least one person died from a bloodstream infection, the CDC said in a memo on Jan. 20.

Valley fever is an infection caused by coccidioides, a fungus that generally prefers warm, arid climates and predominately lives in soil in the southwestern United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC reported about 20,000 cases of Valley fever in 2019. Although most cases are mild, the fungus spreads in a fraction of patients causing severe disease and death.

The hallmarks of COVID-19 have been trouble breathing, loss of smell and taste, and fatigue, but as the years pass, doctors have documented up to 200 related symptoms. One trend has been a rise in incidents of suicide and doctors are finding the risk is higher for those who've had COVID. Studies are showing that some with long COVID experience a rise in depression, anxiety and mood issues.
