Dr. Dhatt illuminates the collaborative efforts between Women in Global Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) to confront sexual misconduct in the aid sector and advance women's leadership in global health. Drawing on insights from HealthToo Policy report, Dr. Dhatt explores the underlying causes of sexual misconduct, including unequal power dynamics and entrenched patriarchal norms. She advocates for comprehensive data collection, robust legal frameworks, and gender parity in leadership as crucial measures for prevention and response to sexual misconduct . Through personal anecdotes, Dr. Dhatt offers valuable advice for women, especially those of color, navigating leadership roles in healthcare and humanitarian aid, emphasizing the significance of collective action, resilience, and persistence.

His lab values signaled end stage liver disease, which could ultimately require a liver transplant, but his heavy weight would most likely render him ineligible. He was referred to Johns Hopkins bariatric surgeon Michael Schweitzer, who performed laparoscopic robot-assisted Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery. Within a year, Jordan lost more than 200 pounds and experienced an entire shift in his life. Now, he enjoys being active outdoors and is looking forward to getting married. #BariatricSurgery #JohnsHopkins #PatientStory

Chad Crigger, MD, MPH is an attending pediatric urologist at the Charlotte Bloomberg Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and assistant professor of urology within the Brady Urological Institute. After growing up in Charleston, West Virginia, Dr. Crigger attended the University of Richmond where he majored in biology. After college, he returned home to WV where he obtained his medical doctorate from Marshall University and a master’s in public health from West Virginia University. He then completed his internship in general surgery and residency in urologic surgery at West Virginia Ruby Memorial Hospital. During his time there he was drawn to the specialization in pediatric urology, particularly the reconstructive aspects that draw on principles from several different fields including pediatric plastic surgery. This, and a chance visiting professorship by Dr. John Gearhart, inspired him to pursue additional training in major reconstructive pediatric urology at Johns Hopkins, where he completed his fellowship. #PediatricUrologist #johnshopkinschildrenscenter Meet Dr. Crigger https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/profiles/details/chad-crigger

When she was 23 weeks pregnant, Ashley Kollme was told that her baby had a congenital heart disease. Kollme was referred to Sibley Memorial Hospital and later to the Blalock-Taussig-Thomas Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center, where the care team created a plan for her delivery. Baby Sophia, affectionately called Sophie, was born at Johns Hopkins and had her first open-heart surgery at 7 days old. She was diagnosed with truncus arteriosus, a condition that occurs when blood vessels coming out of the developing baby’s heart fail to separate entirely, leaving a connection between the aorta and pulmonary artery. Sophie had a very complex case, and was in the hospital for 83 days. The Johns Hopkins Children’s Center care team included Kollme in the daily rounds and made sure that she was involved in Sophie’s care, and the team combined their expertise to ensure that Sophie and her family were cared for.
