"Canadian researchers analyzed coffee’s “contribution to climate change” in a piece published in early January and suggested people moderate their consumption of the popular drink as a part of the solution.
Researchers Luciano Rodrigues Viana, Charles Marty, Jean-François Boucher and Pierre-Luc Dessureault wrote in an analysis published in The Conversation that pollution from preparing coffee was “just the tip of the iceberg.”
“Limiting your contribution to climate change requires an adapted diet, and coffee is no exception. Choosing a mode of coffee preparation that emits less GHGs (greenhouse gases) and moderating your consumption are part of the solution,” the researchers at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi wrote."

"Dixon Slingerland, once one of the Democratic Party’s top fundraisers in Los Angeles, has agreed to plead guilty to two felonies, admitting that he embezzled more than $71,000 from the defunct Hollywood antipoverty group that he led for 23 years.
Slingerland, 53, was a frequent visitor to the White House under President Obama and close to Eric Garcetti during his tenure as L.A. mayor.
He served as president and chief executive of Youth Policy Institute from 1996 until he was fired in 2019, shortly before the nonprofit collapsed."

In a staff call on Friday, CNET leadership announced that it would stop using artificial intelligence to write articles "for now," per The Verge. Last week, online marketing expert Gael Breton tweeted that a CNET article about financial planning came with a disclaimer that it was "generated using automation technology." Futurism picked up the story, reporting that CNET had been "quietly publishing"over 70 SEO-friendly explainer articles about finance since November 2022. What followed was backlash about using artificial intelligence to generate stories — without some kind of explicit announcement, for achieving high SEO ranking, as well as scrutiny over the accuracy of the articles."

"Disney World's Splash Mountain ride closed on Monday ahead of its transformation into Tiana's Bayou Adventure, which is slated to open in 2024.
Following the closure, some Disney fans have tried to make money by listing bags and jars filled with water that they say they collected from the log-flume ride. As of Tuesday morning, the lowest listed price for water claiming to be from Splash Mountain on eBay was $4.25 for four ounces of water and the highest was $1,000 for six ounces.
Listings describe the water as "Disney's Splash Mountain Water 1/22/2023 Limited" and "Genuine Disney SPLASH MOUNTAIN Water circa 2021," respectively."
