The case series, published in the Journal of Child Neurology, found that the ketogenic diet is a safe and effective form of anti-seizure therapy in children with Rett syndrome: 67% of the patients had a greater than or equal to 50% reduction in seizures. The retrospective study looked at 135 patients with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis or indeterminate colitis who were treated with upadacitinib between January 2020 and September 2024. Their findings suggest that reinduction of upadacitinib at a higher dose, combination therapy or switching to another agent are all viable strategies, and that personalized treatment approaches are essential to IBD management.
