In this session, learn how the first two Actions, Reviewing Your Hospital’s Operations, and Building Your Professional Wellbeing Team, help establish the foundation for wellbeing work at your hospital. Action 1 helps form a baseline summary of efforts already underway so you don't duplicate energy and resources, while Action 2 keeps professional wellbeing centered in your hospital's operations without putting the work on one position or department. Health Video: How a Medical Mystery in Guam Led to a New Approach to Alzheimer’s Disease
As part of his reporting for “The Last Alzheimer’s Patient” documentary, CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta travels to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to learn more about an ethnobotanist’s audacious theory on treating Alzheimer’s disease. After Dr. Paul Cox, founder of the nonprofit Brain Chemistry Labs, discovered the source of a mysterious neurodegenerative disease afflicting people in Guam, those clues led him to a novel way of thinking about Alzheimer’s and a simple amino acid called L-serine. His novel theory and possible treatment are now being tested in Mild Cognitive Impairment patients at Houston Methodist. The employee worked at the seafood counter, prompting Public Health to recommend that anyone who purchased products from the seafood counter section of the store between April 20 and May 13 to receive hepatitis A vaccine if they are not already immune.

World Health Organization Video: Language: the power to Heal and Harm
Ellie Kemp is the strategic partnership director of the humanitarian linguistic organization, Clear Global. In this episode, Ellie talks about how language is tied up with power dynamics, and how this is amplified within the aid system.
In an Anglo-centric sector, professional standards and official documentation are developed in English, reflecting a certain worldview. Ellie says this hinders communication and access to resources for affected communities. Crucially it also affects the reporting and prevention of sexual misconduct, as survivors may not be able to communicate their experiences as effectively and coherently as their abusers.
Ellie talks about successful initiatives used to break down barriers, including listening stations to allow people to provide feedback in their own language, and developing glossaries in multiple languages. She also says AI language technology has the potential for improving communication, providing work is done to assist machine learning of marginalised languages.
