Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chair of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, canceled a hearing scheduled for today about the GWU protest with Mayor Bowser testifying. Chair Comer commended the mayor for "clearing the trespassers" off the "unlawful encampment". Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) held a news conference with some of the GWU student protesters, chanting with them, "Free, Free Palestine". Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirms that the U.S. pause an arms shipment to Israel last week over concerns about Israel's impending military action in the city of Rafah in Gaza. State Department says it will miss today's deadline to determine if Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza is violating U.S. and international law. U.S. House passes a bill to require a citizenship question in the census done every 10 years and to divide U.S. House seats among the states based only on the population of U.S. citizens. The Senate is still working on a five-year FAA reauthorization, ahead of Friday's deadline, but with no deal on which amendments can be offered, it is likely another one-week extension will be needed. President Joe Biden in Wisconsin announces a $3.3 Microsoft data center investment, on the same site that former President Trump had promised a FoxConn facility that never got built. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) help dedicate a new statue of civil rights leader Daisy Bates as part of the National Statuary Hall collection in the U.S. Capitol. IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel testifies before a House Appropriations Subcommittee on closing the tax gap, the difference between taxes owed and taxes paid. Head of the Drug Enforcement Administration Anne Milgram goes before another House Appropriations Subcommittee and is asked about Mexico's extent of cooperation in fighting fentanyl trafficking. Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh gives an update on a U.S. Army Soldier arrested in Russia, while Russian President Vladimir Putin is inaugurated to a fifth term.
